Singapore Stalwart Takes Down Stars’ Sunday Million!

Sometimes, great things do happen. On a regular afternoon on a regular Monday, a Singaporean was quietly making history in the poker world after 12 gruelling hours on the virtual felt. Fam 'bmky88' Kai Yat, one of the more seasoned and underrated players on the Asian circuit, outlasted a field of 5718 players to take down the the largest weekly $215 poker tournament in the world.

Fam, who got to the final table as one of the shortest stacks, managed to find a number of crucial double-throughs, before deftly maneuvering himself into heads-up play. Fam and his opponent agreed to a $141,000 / $147,774.79 money chop, leaving 20k aside for the eventual champion, as required by the tournament rules. Fam eventually took the chip lead with a 3-street value bet with AQ on a 8 7 A T 5 board, before finishing his opponent off two hands later with 99 vs. 88.

The Pokerakaki.com community congratulates Fam for becoming the first South-East Asian winner of the Pokerstars Sunday Million, and for the handsome USD$161,000 cash.
