I was here in Genting Highland Casino on 29/5/15 for the tourney preliminary round. I read a hand out of the rules and regulations and noticed the official language is English. Apparently most of the cards dealer were Chinese national and they are using them as a training ground. Even the supervisor were not knowledgeable in the rules of the game which I've witness. However I managed to return for the final 100, 2 days later. The following experiences I had which I would like to share and advise you to think about it for future tournaments organise by Genting Casino. 1) Official language is English but Card dealers were mainly Chinese National. Some dealers may not understand simple English. Most players and managers were Malaysians where Cantonese seems to be the common language. This would be a disadvantage to the European participants. 2) The blind structures were increasingly high and fast without consideration for their inexperience card dealers were too slow to keep up the paste. 3) Card dealers were not observant enough to catch potential cheaters. I had notified the dealers 2 hand cards were bent and resulted in the whole stack being changed and reshuffled. This process causes time wastage and the structure went up on the next deal. Player on my left was not penalised for bent cards. 4)I had pocket 10 and bet a substantial amount, everyone folded except for the player on my right Called my bet. The flop came a pair of 6s and a 5, my opponent checked and the dealer immediately pointed to me for my turn to act. I lift up my hand speaking aloud "wait" and reached for my chips intenting to bet more than half my stack. When I looked up the dealer already flipped out a Q on the Turn. While I was questioning the dealer what went wrong, there were 3 supervisors and managers behind me didn't utter a word to resolve the issue until I questioned their objective of presence. Throughout the whole dispute no one seems to respond to me in English and allow the games to proceed. Eventually my opponent raised all in before the river which I have to fold sensing my opponents of a flush or Q pair. 5)When I speak to the dealer that players should not be allowed to cover the cards with their palm for fear that other players may act out of turn thinking they hv folded. It fall on deaf ears or perhaps dealers don't understand what I was saying. I hope viewers may voice out their experiences and make known to everyone for the sake of promoting a fair and fun events in future. Though LWPS is small in comparison to Genting, but the level of professionalism in managing Genting were no where near LWPS. |
