Murphy's advice on how you can crush LWPS (MUST READ)

Postby MJFX » Thu Jul 21, 2011 1:25 pm

I'm an avid student of Murphy's laws and the phrases below originated from my head.
Please note the circumstances in which these quotes have been produced are such that it is not appropriate to characterise them as independent poker decision materials.

There is always someone who has more chips than you.

Do not call fishes names (after you lost a pot) because people may not be able to tell the difference.

The big pot you just won maybe the last pot you won in the tournament. (no, you have not yet won the tournament)

When the call appears too good to be true, yes probably it is.

Do not attempt a squeeze play from behind against a total stranger.

Fold Aces unless you are prepared to suffer the agony of being 2 outered.

Do not steal from a thief because it will end up costing you more.

If there is no concept of fold equity, you probably would have folded and not cost your tournament life.

Stop and go literally means you are going to stop playing and go.

A premium hand is when you are ahead 99.9% at any given time. (also read fold aces)

There is no such thing as taking a freecard. (you are probably drawing dead)

Don't ask for "one time" when you don't mean it. ( you will get ignored by poker gods)

And bad beat god will give you many times when you ask for "one time".

Think twice, to semi bluff means giving chips away. ( also read fold equity)

You will regret more when your hand improves at the river. (also read freecard)

Playing to win, more often end up losing.

The last bad beat is not the worst bad beat.

There is no such thing called coming to the tail end of a downswing. Tail end means busto.

Don't try to be too smart and say its a polarised range, when you can't even tell a fake orgasm from a real one.

Bluff equity is bullshit, you are caught one time and you lose all your previous equity.

You often lose more, when you think you are ahead. (also read hand improves at river and last bad beat)

Poker cannot play one.

All good run comes to an end.

Anything that can go wrong will go wrong. :o

Oh really? Fold it?

If I did play it and get 2-outered, I would just say its poker.
