is this a correct play?

Played a friendly game with friends, 4 people left.
Stack
Me: 9500
fren 1: 12000 (dealer)
fren 2: 1300 (sb)
fren 3: 600 (bb)

dealt to me [Jh] [Jc]
sb: 100
bb: 200
all called

flop comes: [5s] [5c] [Ts]
all checked

turn comes: [Ks]
sb raise 600
bb called all in
me call
fren 1 raise 1800
me fold.

river comes: [Js]

sb hand: [Th] [Kh]
bb hand: [Kc] [6h]
fren 1 hand: [5h] [9s]

fren 1 wins.

I was thinking is this a correct play because it's very obvious that fren 1 have the 5 but I could have just called it with a bet. So is this a correct play?

why did you not raise pre flop ?

on the flop if u bet , you might let them define their hand if they have the 5 , the T , the flush draw or some pair / junk inbetween.

on the turn , whatever KX that would have folded to a preflop / flop bet , got there.

on the turn , u lose to 5x , Kx , the flush , only beating 22 - 99 , less 55 , Tx that is not a King.
you are beat and you should have folded to the turn bet.

if you had raised before the flop , probably only a loose SB would call you.
on the flop T55 , he would hit top pair and c/c or c/r , either way , all your chips would have gotten in on the flop and it would turn out to be a good decision on the flop , he might turn you and you might river him but the thing is you made the best decision preflop and flop

Because its a friendly game and in the past few hands theres not many people raising in preflop, maybe thats where i should be correcting.
