its gonna launch in 2009 january right? (1 year 2 more months)
Singapore is a small island. Every inch of the land cost $$$$$$. From the way I see it, casino dun earn much from poker tourneys tho. Poker is not as profitable compared to other games. Our calculative government might make use of the space to install more slot machines to lure more retired folks. They might also place more tables with games like Baccarat, Blackjacks, Roulette, Sic Bo...etc (These games are more lucrative)
The casino will have many VIP rooms for members and high rollers for exclusive games like poker. You probably can find your poker game here then. The casino will have several service options like providing u an experienced hourly rated Texas Hold'em dealer(a sexy babe if possible) or charge you rental for the VIP room.
if i am not wrong , our goverment just sit there and soak up all the tax $$$$$$$ Marina sands is gonna be quite big, i think space wouldnt be an issue a casino poker table can earn on average 100 USD/hour which is still quite good but lesser then a full table game i think they might have a poker room with a few tables so that the gamblers have more variety since Vegas sands which is now building marina sands also owns The Venetian, which both has poker rooms
Also sites like pokerstars are pushing poker tournaments in asia, in 2008 u will see a major poker event in genting highlands if i am not mistaken. The direct profit from tournaments is not so attractive but it really helps to prompt the game , casino and country after broadcasting those events across TV
We just got a singaporean who won the Genting Poker Tournament on 16/12/2007. he beats 260 contestants to crown the tournament, but that's just a minor event, champion payout only RM75,000..... still a champion.... at last.
