Postby DM101 » Sun Nov 25, 2007 11:46 pm

Yes. Singapore is making another impact at the poker scene today.
Job well done by our local Ivan Tan for getting 2nd place for the APPT-Macau.
Hey Ivan, I am waiting for your return to branja me makan tonight.

Very well played to the Final Table.

Actually there was another Sg player also ITM as he came in 18th place ($Usd4858). He is Betfair 2006 1st runner up Joshua,Pang Leng Ang.

The prizes are as follow:

1st: $222,640 Dinh Le (Vietnam)

2nd:$129,536 Zhong Wei “Ivan” Tan (Singapore)

3rd: $72,864 Sangkyoun Kim (South Korea)

4th: $56,672 Guillaume Patry (Canada)

5th: $48,576 Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier (France)

6th: $40,480 William Tam (Australia)

7th: $32,384 Liz Lieu (USA)

8th: $24,288 Joe Hachem (Australia)

9th: $16,192 Simon Randall (United Kingdom)

Below is the final hand between the 2 players.

Dinh Le has the button in seat 6 and makes it 240,000 to go. Ivan Tan then announces a re-raise, shoving 720,000 across the betting line. Le then announces "all-in" and Tan quickly makes the call:

Ivan Tan: [As] [Tc]
Dinh Le: [8d] [8s]

Flop: [6s] [5s] [Qd]
Turn: [2h]
River: [Jd]

The board : [6s] [5s] [Qd] [2h] [Jd]

Dinh Le's pocket eights hold up and he is dubbed the official winner of the 2007 PokerStars.net APPT Macau Asian Poker Open!

Singapore is a small island. Every inch of the land cost $$$$$$.
From the way I see it, casino dun earn much from poker tourneys tho. Poker is not as profitable compared to other games.
Our calculative government might make use of the space to install more slot machines to lure more retired folks. They might also place more tables with games like Baccarat, Blackjacks, Roulette, Sic Bo...etc (These games are more lucrative)

The casino will have many VIP rooms for members and high rollers for exclusive games like poker. You probably can find your poker game here then. The casino will have several service options like providing u an experienced hourly rated Texas Hold'em dealer(a sexy babe if possible) or charge you rental for the VIP room.

Well...we'll see how it goes

if i am not wrong , our goverment just sit there and soak up all the tax $$$$$$$
Marina sands is gonna be quite big, i think space wouldnt be an issue
a casino poker table can earn on average 100 USD/hour which is still quite good but lesser then a full table game
i think they might have a poker room with a few tables so that the gamblers have more variety
since Vegas sands which is now building marina sands also owns The Venetian, which both has poker rooms

Also sites like pokerstars are pushing poker tournaments in asia, in 2008 u will see a major poker event in genting highlands if i am not mistaken.
The direct profit from tournaments is not so attractive but it really helps to prompt the game , casino and country after broadcasting those events across TV

how u guys think?
