APPT Macau - Season 4, hosted by PokerStars Macau at Casino Grand Lisboa, is 2 weeks into the 3-week Poker Festival schedule. The player fields and prize pools are growing with each passing day as we approach the opening of Asia’s biggest poker tournament, APPT Macau Main Event.

The leading story after 11 events is PokerStars sponsored Alex Loon from Singapore. Alex has made 6 final tables in the first 9 events including winning Event 9 plus 3 runner-up finishes. It’s safe to say that Alex’s time studying with Team PokerStars PRO Bryan Huang has been well spent as he has already earned HKD $63,650 in prize money.

Alex’s dominating performance continues as he is part of the remaining 20 players of Event 12 which shattered the HKD $500,000 guarantee. 123 players entered this event to balloon the prize pool to over HKD $1,100,000 where
the eventual winner will walk away with over HKD $290,000.

The current chip leader heading into the final day of Event 12 is LU Jun Wei with 208,900 chips. Wei-en Shih, who is currently ranked 2nd on the Asia Player of the Year (APOY) Leaderboard, can overtake the top spot should he
finish 3rd or better. Other notables going into the final day include 2009 APOY Kitty Kuo from Taipei and Red Dragon winner Victor Chen from Taipei.

Many of the top regional players participated in Event 12 with APOY points on the line. This included current APOY leader and Teams PokerStars PRO Raymond Wu from Taipei, APPT Manila 2010 winner Binh Nguyen from USA, 2008 Cardplayer Player of the Year John Phan from USA, and 2009 Macau Poker Cup Championship winner Devan Tang from Hong Kong.

The APPT Macau Opening Ceremony takes place at PokerStars Macau on Monday – May 17 at 12:00 PM and is headlined by Hong Kong actress/model Chrissie Chau. PokerStars sponsored Terrence Chan hosts his self named Terrence Chan
Limit Holdem event directly after the ceremony.

APPT Macau Main Event begins May 18 and players can still qualify live at PokerStars Macau.
