New to Singapore

Postby p0kern00b » Fri May 05, 2017 4:31 pm

Hi, I've just settled down with a new job as an expat in Singapore. I understand that gambling laws are strict in Singapore and poker is prohibited. Is playing on the ship (SPC) the best way for me to enjoy the game while I'm here? Thanks for any advice.

Hi DM101,

Thanks for the welcome, unfortunately due to a busy schedule at that time I'm probably unable to attend.

I'm still looking for options to play online and in my time here talking with local colleagues, friends and forums, it seems that Singaporeans have found ways to continue doing just that.
Names like Natural8, PPPoker and PokerMonster came to my attention. Does anyone have an opinion on these sites or have experience playing on them?

Hi pokernoob,

I can help answer your question with regard to PokerMonster.

In a nutshell, PokerMonster is a free-to-play poker game using play money that is available for everyone to download and play, not too dissimilar to Zynga Poker. Players can purchase in-game gold within the e-shop but usually prefer to deal with other players or chip merchants to buy/sell for real currency at a better rate. The emergence of these chip merchants over the years have created a unique “situation” where suddenly its in-game gold has real currency value on the secondary market.

It is published by Beijing LianZhong a.k.a. Ourgame, a HK Exchange-listed company and has a certification for its RNG from GLI. In China, where gambling is illegal, PokerMonster, launched in 2012, has withstood the test of time and continues to flourish into the largest poker network within the country.

Ourgame also owns and organizes the largest poker events in China (World Poker Tour). With exclusive online satellites held to these WPT-branded events in China, PokerMonster attracts large numbers of Chinese casual players to their platform.

Players are mostly taking advantage of the great value MTTs highlighted by their Sunday Major - LZ Billions - which carries a 1 Billion Gold Guarantee (Secondary market value of appx $100,000 USD worth of gold!). There are also many other major MTTs such as the Tuesday Snowball, Saturday Whale and Super Sunday that see overlays more often than not. Also, the spillover effect of casual players from the other games games on the Ourgame network that share a common in-game currency is a definite lure.

PokerMonster.Asia would be your best bet pokernoob.

Thanks Emma for the elaboration on PokerMonster. With regard to players who deal in-game gold or chip merchants, I have a few questions:

1. How do I find them?
2. Are they reliable?

I can introduce to you a reliable chip merchant that has been been around for some years. Check your PM.
