FIELD REPORT - MANILA

Postby koolas » Mon Oct 13, 2008 2:52 pm

Gone live for awhile and these are my obeservation :D

Manila Pavilion Poker Room - is still open but no operations
no one is playing, it has been this since 1 month ago.

Ambassador Poker Room - 1st time I went there was Oct. 11 and on that day is their 300K freeroll tourney.
Seats are earned thru their own sattelites and based on rewards that their regular players get.
I bought 2 entries for 5.5K from regular players who have earned multi-entry.
Inluckily, me and my wife busted out on Day 1 and wasnt able to join day 2.
Entry > 120, Champion win 100k, prize pool 300k paid up to 9th place
Cash Games here is ok., 10-20, 25-50, 50-100 are running before day 1 of tourney end.
They have bad beat jackpot and other bonus on hands like Jacks full 10 and higher
food are cheap, rice topping with chicken barbecue cost 100 only
drinks (ice tea / coffee) are free flowing
People are more friendly here. :D

Master Poker Room - very active with continous flow of players.
Found here is the most number of koreans playing.
Almost daily freeroll, entry fee 300, 500 guareeted 30K, 50K
Big tourney coming is on Nov. 15 to 16 Fixed Prize Pool of 1 mil
Entries are earned thru their points system of 20 credits per 1 hour of play but you have to earn at 10000 for the big tourney. Anyway it's expected some seats would be sold for >10K come near tourney dates.
Cash Games are strong, many players, 5-6 tables still operational when I left there at 3am Monday morning.
Food is bit expensive, rice meal 200-250, burger - 150, noodles - 100

Heard only:
Hyatt Poker Room - hurt from an anomaly 1 month ago where 2 4C were dealt on the table.
Players there shifted to PPT Pokerroom, so PPT is now back in business, bigger crowd was observed and this is the place now for the higger pot tables.
but Hyatt have slowly recovered from that incidents, new players are joining in their regular cash games supposedly these are the guest of the casino.

Cheers too! Good thing freerolls online are back online and that means no more nite out for koolas
TY for your appreciation, I do just wanted to let pokerkaki members have a feel of the manila poker scene.

I believe Manila poker scene is far more colorful, and you have to excuse me for my limited exposure, My areas are limited to Ermita-Malate, Haven't set my foot yet on Metro Card Club, But when that time comes, hopefully I could share some of what I will be experiencing there.

I started playing live at the pavilion, then at Hyatt.
but nowadays I will be playing much more at the Master Poker Room.
1st time at GHL last Saturday for their 300K tourney.
Me, my wife and rodel usually play the freeroll tourney at the Master.
Crowd from Pavilion like (Master / Nestor / Egay) knew me as Edward.

UPDATE!!!!
I have broken my promise of no more nite out.........
but since me and my wife qualified already for this sunday Appt Manila phase 2, the urge to go out is greatest.
So, off we went to the Master.
1st act - we join the 50k tourney at 7pm for 500 buy-in, entries = 55, 6 tables + 1 late entry, got unlucky and busted out early.
2nd - played 10-20 cash game, buy-in of 1000+500, cash out 4,100 to play at 50-100 and make add't buy-in of 1000 to bring a total of 5,100 to the table. But before action start, I order food (dinner) for 3 not expecting that the poker room would pick up the tab, but they did, so we got free dinner  however my play was so-so, got my chips close to 10k early but after a succession of bad beat / wrong read, all my chips are gone and got me going home at around 2pm

NEWS is while I'm at the table, I was seated next to an American, and this is what we have talked about..
They (American and and a group of Investors) are opening soon in manila virtual poker rooms, they will be opening sort of internet cafe but exclusively for pokerroom operations only. Players will make buy-in in pesos and play it on a local network.... Come to think of it, isn't it that would be too much poker, would they have enough market? by the way, located along the vicinity of ermita-malate, a new pokerroom, ROOM 18 is having their grand opening today. Waaahhhh..... so many options now for koolas.....
where would I find that homly comfort that these would be offering....

I'll be playing for the APPT Manila Freeroll Phase 2 this Sunday 8 p.m. It's going to be a very tight online battle on the felt and this won't be easy. Good Luck to all qualifiers. May The Luck Be With You.

Koola, thank you for the nice feedback. Seems like you and your wife are having a mini honeymoon at the pokerroom.
Are there many virtual pokerrooms in Manila too? Genting is bringing some virtual poker machines by end of October.

Not that fortunate enough. The Internet Disconnection really hurts me and makes me sick and that's why i got eliminated early. I'll be back again playing the Phase 1 Freeroll to get a ticket to Phase 2.
