i wouldnt say that calling was easy. my thought process was relatively simple on this one.

first of all, he is in late position, so i did not need to give him credit for a hand, but i did not want to go crazy with my 3s so i smooth called pre.

secondly, he checks the flop, if he had a legitimate hand, whether or not he had a heart, he would bet it and find out where he was at. if he is checking the nuts, he's got me.

on the turn, he bets 1000, which is decided to call since I also had a flush and saw what he would do on river.

on the river, i check and he shoves. the nuts, or close to it, are not shoving here most of the time because they want value for their hand, and my check call on turn obviously indicated a weak heart and he wants me to fold it. any marginal heart is checking the river as well for fear that their flush is beat.

my read was dead on, he had nothing. if he bets the flop and turn, he takes it down. he just misrepresented the hand.

Thanks for the reply. Ah i thought you had some bet sizing or timing tell from him previously which made you lean towards the call.

I guess in the end the hearts being a three didnt matter. It was one of those far ahead or far behind situation.

well ben, i think it had something to do with the bet timing sizing as well.

i think at some point he was thinking quite some time before betting or checking im not sure.

and as i previously mentioned, the bet size (shove on river) really made the call quite easy. if he was tricky or a donk, then he gets my chips. but i had observed him and saw him to be pretty solid, except for this hand. hehe :D
