Another Cheating Story...need suggestions on curbing it.

Postby foldisgold » Wed Sep 17, 2008 4:33 pm

The cheater is a luckbox fish at our .5/1 game. Luckbox cheater is a friend's aquaintance and our group is made up of regulars who all know each other really well outside of the table.

On this particular hand, luckbox cheater is on the button (hence holding onto the deck), I'm SB and am holding 1010. It's limped around to me and I raise and get 2 callers, including luckbox cheater.

Flop is A99 and I fire 40 and again get called by both players.

Turn is a blank and I check, MP shoves, and I yell in pain! Luckbox cheater looks at me and says, "I'll probably fold if you're folding." And I just shrug if off. He immediately says, "Looks like you're calling, so I guess I can call too."

I fold obv and the river brings a J.

The shover flips 910 for trips and luckbox cheater shows pocket Js which filled up on river. Of course, commotion abound with comments of "Bad Beat" and what not with the shover looking desolate and luckbox cheater smirking.

Next day, host tells me what he observed in that hand.

During the turn when MP (holding trip 9s) shoved and a short commotion followed, he sees luckbox cheater peek at top few cards in the deck, then pulls the deck under the table!!!! Makes the smart alecky comment and smooth calls the all in!

Of course I asked why didn't he call out the cheater there and then. And of course he had his reasons (friendship, prevent blood from spilling) and now host wants to call off our weekly games because of this cheater.

Here comes the kicker in the story: This luckbox cheater is still losing.

Not sure if he's been cheating in previous games (he's mostly losing 2 - 3 BIs per session) but in the last game he was down 2 BIs at the end of the game.

I personally feel we should let the luckbox cheater back in (he's really terrible), but put measures in place so that he can't cheat.

So anyone has any ideas to minimize opportunites for players to cheat, please feel free to give ideas! Btw, hiring a dealer is out of question since there's no rake.

Thanks for reading.

assign one of you guys as a dedicated dealer.. maybe he gets free meal+transport fees or whatever, it's not like it's raked.

Well, we want him back cos,

1) He's a payoff wizard.
2) He's pretty terrible at cheating.(I mean, he's still losing despite cheating.)

So as long as we,

1) Prevent him from cheating.
2) Everyone on the table keep an eye on his movements.

We can,

1) Keep taking his money.
2) Live happily ever after.

Thanks to newbie for the suggestion. Keep em coming

probably can enforce some strict house rules to your games..

etc - no holding of deck except when dealing..
-all playing cards are to be on table at all times...
-no rabbit hunting..
-speaking of English at tables only.. LOL

Dont play with this guy. If he has no qualms about cheating, what are the chances he has a problem doing other unethical things, like stealing, etc.

Associating with a guy like that isn't worth it, imo
