shld i play it differently to prevent this?

if i shove preflop, i might still get called by the guy with AK

should i have shoved post flop?

if i push for a fold from both, i am not maximising ev

my rationale is that i will check postflop to try and read both players cards 1st given JJ flopped, note that both are aggro players, hence the choice to raise preflop to max ev

$20+2 tournament, final 2 tables, current rank 8/14 doubling up will only push me to 5th, but with a substantial buffer to make final table

Pre-flop pop to like 6Kish. Flop is fine as is, imo

preflop raise too small, you get too good of odds for other to chase you.
A re-raise of 3x to 3.5x would be decent

With a premium hand like QQ-AA the basic objective is to try to get as much $$ in preflop while you are ahead, yet trying to get the pot heads up against a dominated hand like AQ,AK JJ-

Without a significant raise, many players will hop in with SCs and pocket pairs. Giving them good pot and implied odds and threatening yourself to be stacked off on the flop.

As for the flop, you should just bet out and hope someone with and underpair TT- or QQ gives you action.
Giving a free card here is dangerous as any Ace will probably doom you in this multi way pot.
If heads up checking might be possible as the chances of you opponent's improving is lower.

In general I think you are just being too tricky, in tournaments the default play should be more straightforward while diverting yourself against more sophisticated or observant players

even a raise to 8k would be make it easier on yourself.

That way you won't have annoying flop decisions.

But shoving this JJ7 flop is absolutely the correct play.

shove flop.
he would be a losing player if he calls using AK to your shove.
check raising it gives the AK good pot odds to join in the fun imo.

and ya i would definitely raise more pf.

nice! for me slkia's Double reraise preflop was'nt that bad. The flop was so Dangerous with a pair of Jacks. But your lucky he does'nt have any A-J or something. I agree the way slkia played his KK. he just got unlucky from a Donkey caller.

The reraise on preflop was fine. Perhaps you can raise slightly more like 5500-5800.
You wanted to extract more value and action from the player.
Just too bad he rivered you tho.
