ADVICE needed. What to do here?

Postby kczd » Sat May 02, 2009 5:40 pm

Was playing in 4.40MTT at PS. Left on 11 in the field, cutoff is at 9th place. I was the last place at 11th.

All folded, except me (SB) and (BB). Had A3o, wanted to raise but just called. BB was identified to be LAG and raised me nearly all in...

i felt tt u shld haf taken the initiative wif a raise since u haf an Ace in the sb onli facing the bb. in tt case facing a reraise would have given u a little more information abt the strength of his hand which would haf made a preflop fold easier. all in all i do feel that limp fold preflop would've been alrite but tts just me. i personally dun really like Ace rag esp if its not suited

Fold. With your relatively small stack, no point risking tourney life with A3...

U had abt 10BBs

Being at SB with that hand... i would raise to BB (total 2.5BB) to steal the pot.
Will fold if LAG raises. You won't lose too much in that instance.
The act is to prove you have a relative good hand.

2 Mistakes
1) You induced the BB to think that your hand was some crap cards since u just called.
Have A8 he has quite a good chance of getting the pot. His move was intentional to grab the pot preflop.
2) You raising all-in into him, he only had to put in 3500 for a 15000 pot. (He has to call...)

On the contrary, u shd be looking for the best cards to shove at close to 10BBs.

given that you had a stack of 12bb,

once folded to, any A sb vs bb is an instant SHOVE.

i feel like if you're raising in sb vs bb, you are only raise, and calling a jam by the BB never folding.

but the more profitable play here is to just get it all in, and use all that juicy fold equity.
