The Power of River

Postby DM101 » Sun Aug 05, 2007 9:32 pm

During the last heads up with Chris Wee, due to fatigue and short stack I kept going all in for several hands.
I managed to steal a few of the blinds for going all in many times. Chris Wee's patience dragged the game for while.
In the end, I went all in again with my 7c Jc and he called me with Ad 5s.

Flop came Jh 5d 10c, and I hit the flop.
The turn came 8c and I had a flush draw.
But the river came a As busted me out. :cry:

The 'house' always has a nasty habit of hitting an Ace on the river... :roll:

Maybe you should bet strong so as to represent the straight with Q9? :lol:

lets make chris really cry. lets run the numbers of how much you were a favorite to win after the flop ...

990 games 0.016 secs 61,875 games/sec

Board: Jh 5d Tc
Dead:

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 20.101% 20.10% 00.00% 199 0.00 { Ad5s }
Hand 1: 79.899% 79.90% 00.00% 791 0.00 { Jc7c }

and on the turn ...

44 games 0.005 secs 8,800 games/sec

Board: Jh 5d Tc 8c
Dead:

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 06.818% 06.82% 00.00% 3 0.00 { Ad5s }
Hand 1: 93.182% 93.18% 00.00% 41 0.00 { Jc7c }

thats how much of a favorite chris was to double up and get back into the game. Chris Wee could only win by hitting the Ace/Five of Spades or Hearts on the river. And as the normal custom, the house always hits what is needed.

Now cry chris! Cry for me! Muwahahahahahah!

i would like to take credit and claim to have a super computer for a brain, but the truth is I came up with the numbers using a freeware program available to everyone. its called PokerStove. You can download it from the internet. Its a very cool tool, you should check it out
