Re: Poker in Resorts World Sentosa(RWS)
Yes they started using plastic cards last weekend. The shuffler rarely malfunctions now.
Re: Poker in Resorts World Sentosa(RWS)
Good to hear, thnx for the info. Think I'll take a new look at the games then, it was bit too much for my patience to see those shufflers getting stuck every 15 mins...
Re: Poker in Resorts World Sentosa(RWS)
hows the action been?
Re: Poker in Resorts World Sentosa(RWS)
The action in RWS is always good, especially on weekends.
Re: Poker in Resorts World Sentosa(RWS)

Re: Poker in Resorts World Sentosa(RWS)
I'll be at Sentosa for the first time next month for a few days, and I have a few questions. (I've never played at an asian casino before -- just in the US + Australia + a few in Europe.)
- How long should I expect to wait for a 5/10 NLHE seat on a Thurs or Sun during the day? During the evening? How many tables can I expect to be running at those times? - Is it still the case that all of the games here are NLHE (5/10 or higher)? Any others? - Any trouble exchanging to/from $USD at the casino? Are the rates notably different from a bank? - Should I expect any trouble understanding what's going on at the table, given that I speak only English? - Any dress code? Shorts/t-shirt okay? - Is there any safe mass-transit way to get there? (I'll be at a hotel about 20 min away by car. So maybe just a taxi?) - Do I understand correctly that as a short-term visitor (sans visa) I can enter for free as long as I have my passport? Anything else I should know, apart for the stupidly high rake? Thanks in advance.
Re: Poker in Resorts World Sentosa(RWS)
Hi Dorsa
Welcome to the Far East. To answer your questions: Weekends can be packed and waiting time up to 30 minutes. Be there before noon to get yourself a seat. Week days are quite ok but also depending on number of tables opened. Usually weekends about 6-8 tables; some at higher Blinds. Normal blinds S$5/10. Only NLHE at present - no Fixed, no Omahas etc Change your USD in town for a better rate. Few % difference between bank & others. Plenty of $ changers in town - all very safe. U are safe with English here. Learn a few Chinese swear words so you have an idea when another player felt heavily challenged! Official dress code, casual neat - oh you have to carry your passport with you for admittance to casino. Taxi are safe, MRT very safe. Buy in usually around S$1000 though the minimum is less at about S$300 (not sure of exact minimum).
Re: Poker in Resorts World Sentosa(RWS)
Victor,
Interesting. how juicy are the games?
Re: Poker in Resorts World Sentosa(RWS)
Hi LayQi
What do you really mean by "juicy"? Depending on how the Flop, Turn & River behaves, to many it will be juicy but I had my share of glories as well as my moments of anguish as my Titanic hands sink in the icy waters of the River. I find the games a bit tight; a bit too tight for my liking but then again that is just my opinion. I have not been there for quite some time now so things could have changed but then again things probably wouldn't have changed that much.
Re: Poker in Resorts World Sentosa(RWS)
I mean, are people calling shoves with top pair weak kcker kind of hands?
Re: Poker in Resorts World Sentosa(RWS)
so far, imho, Nope. but some call with top pair "good" kicker. it depends, but many times, nope.
Re: Poker in Resorts World Sentosa(RWS)
Calling with little pairs etc ? For that you have to go to Manila Resorts World - play on a table with the Koreans and you will get actions like that. Suggest that you consult all the horoscope charts that your luck star is shining on the day you play, ok? Let me give you an example of a hand that I can never forget . . some 4 years ago . . not in Resorts Manila but in Hyatt Manila - probably forgot to consult my horoscope before I played!
In late position and holding unsuited AQ, early position raised 1000 pesos on a 50/100 table. I decided to call and not re-raised. Flopped A Q 2 rainbow. Early Position (Korean) opened fire with 3k which I raised to 10k. Korean guy re-raised to 24k and I went all in with 100k. Korean guy "called" and flipped open his stupid Pocket 55 !!!! Turn was "cannot remember" but River was "cannot forget" - a 5 ! Welcome to Manila Poker Games!
Re: Poker in Resorts World Sentosa(RWS)
