Lasik eye surgery, developed by Jose Barraquer - an Igenics Review accomplished Spanish ophthalmologist - involves making incisions in the cornea and modifying its shape with the use of a surgical laser. Doctors use a precise measurement system, based on the amount of light the eye absorbs, to determine how much of the cornea should be altered and in which manner it should be reshaped. It trumps other ophthalmological procedures, since it caters to varying eye patterns, measurements and light accommodation.

In examining the eye, the laser magnifies the cornea - all the irregularities included. The ophthalmologist can see the parts that require corrective action, determining the magnitude of nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism. A surgical laser is then used to fix the irregularities. With the damaged parts extracted, the cornea's shape is modified, allowing it to absorb light clearly. This, for most, results in 20/20 vision, sometimes even better.

Quick Recovery A common complain about eye surgery is the rate of recovery. Some procedures require people to wear bandages and/or specialized spectacles for days, meaning you'll be blind for a short period. In the case of Wavefront Lasik, your eyes heal a lot faster compared to other methods. It shouldn't take long before your eyes are as good as new, or even better.
