http://www.fulltiltpoker.com/rake.php

http://www.pokerstars.com/poker/room/rake/

Basic rake is 5% what , 27 % who dare to play

What i think you are refering to is 27 % rakeback , which is important for most players.

Want to play tournament play @ PS , cash game , go for FTP lor

But if u want rakeback , there are other sites with higher rakeback too

You have to take into account that some sites charge higher rake, so don't be fooled by the higher rakeback offers for those sites. IIRC FTP charges slightly higher rake than PS on cash tables, but the 27% rakeback offer sort of makes up for it.

Lets do a QUICK comparison @ 2NL , 25NL and 100 NL (chosen as FTP has 3 different rates

If u win 100 buy ins at each stake , 1 buy in each time
thats 200 , 1K , 5K and 10 K respectively.
assumptions : run it once , heads up in pot

2NL
FTP : Rake when u win $2 : $2 / 0.15 x 0.01= $0.13
You win directly : $1.87
Total : 100 x 1.87 = 187
Rakeback : 13 x 27 % = 3.51
Winnings = rakeback + direct
= 3.51 + 187 = 190.51

PS : Rake when u win $2 : $2/ 1 x 0.05 = 0.10
You win directly : $1.90
Total : 100 x 1.90 = $190

25NL:
FTP : Rake when u win $25 : $25/ 0.20 x 0.001 = $1.25 ( cap @ 0.50)
You win directly : $24.50
Total : $2450
Rakeback : 50 x 27% = $13.50
Winnings = rakeback + direct
= 2450 + 13.50
= $ 2463.50

PS : Rake when u win $25 : $25/ 1 x 0.05 = 1.25 ( cap @ $1)
You win directly : $24
Total : 100 x 24 = $2400

100 NL :

FTP : Rake when u win $100 : $100 / 1 x 0.05 = $0.50
You win directly : $99.50
Total : $9950
Rakeback : 50 x 27% = $13.50
Winnings = rakeback + direct
= 9950 +13.50
= 9963.5

PS : Rake when u win $100 : $1
You win directly : $ 99
Total : 100 x 99 = 9900

This is a quick comparison full of assumptions and neglect a lot of factors
like for the fact that FT charges more when you run it twice ,

beyond rakeback , you need to consider the bonus-es too.

quoting from : http://www.flopturnriver.com/Pokerstars ... keback.php

As you can see, at the GoldStar level, tournament players start to hit the 27% that Full Tilt offers. At this VIP level, the PokerStars VIP club becomes a superior chose over any Full Tilt Poker rakeback deal. Once a player becomes Supernova taking the $1,500 bonus and above, most players earn over 35% rakeback! There is also the added bonus of the weekly and monthly freerolls, which can put PokerStars way over the top for Supernova rakeback. One final note, in 2010 PokerStars has made it even easier for players to maintain their Supernova status. In the past players had to earn 10,000 VPPs per month to keep their Supernova perks; however, players now only have to earn 7,500 VPPs each month to maintain Supernova.

so if u really intend to play a lot or beyond 100 NL , then go for PS cos the rewards are aplenty , but if are making your way up to 100 NL , then maybe FTP may be a good place to hang around till then.

This is a good thread in which the TS made an effort to make a chart for PokerStars. For rakeback and VIP system to be significant, you need to play many hands/tables. If not, just choose a site which has a better interface for you.
