SINGAPORE: A 36-year-old man was charged in court Thursday with stealing casino chips from the Marina Bay Sands (MBS) casino.

Cheong Yong Heng had allegedly stolen $150 worth of casino chips on June 15 from Thai national Phanthasri Saichon.

He had allegedly taken four pieces of $25 cash chips at about 2pm from Ms Saichon and an hour later, he stole another two pieces from her by unzipping her handbag.

Cheong then allegedly stole a $100 cash chip from another patron.

His case will be heard in court in two weeks' time.

If convicted, he can be jailed up to three years and fined. - CNA/jy
