Hong Kong is packed with poker players at the moment in the wake of the Macau Millions which wrapped up on the 8th of August. In amongst the arrested are poker pin up girl Celina Lin, suit wearing Australian Andrew Scott and Australian born local David Steicke. The city's first and best-known poker venue threw a closing bash last night, but police helped it close spectacularly - by gatecrashing the party in a raid.
More than 100 people were arrested in the Hong Kong Poker House on Hollywood Road, Central, on suspicion of illegal gambling, a police spokesman said.

A person who was at the scene said nearly 200 people were arrested. Some were taken to a police station in Sheung Wan.

The poker house was closing as the landlord refused to renew the lease.

A poster on the HKPH Facebook page said the entry fee - only members and their friends were allowed- was HK$300, and that covers unlimited drinks, food and "2k starting chips". Tournament prizes including overnight trips to Macau were offered.

A person who was at the party said around 30 police officers raided the venue 10 min after the poker games started, at about 8.30pm. Police arested the people there and told them they would be realeased before 1am, he said.

Another person who was also at the scene said police triggered a fire alarm for 25 min and took the identity cards of the people there.

He said there were about 10 poker tables, with 10 players at each table, and some people watching the games. One- third of the party goers were expats.

No cash value was written on the chips, the person said.

Both witneses said no money was involved in the poker games, and the chips were not cashed in.

But the poster said it allowed the repurchase of '3k chips' ay HK$300.

A text message circulated by the party organiser said there was a cash tournament at the Bankroll poker room, which was in the same building as Poker House.

No charge was made as of 1am this morning. The Poker House claimed it had not been raided before and was safe.
