DWAN WINS HK$68 MILLION IN MACAU HEADS-UP REMATCH

Postby ooofish » Wed Dec 01, 2010 9:46 am

Tom Dwan has completed his second heads-up match with an unknown Chinese businessman and walked out from the session with a profit of HK$68 million (more than US$8.5 million). The pair were playing at the i love pokerkaki at Macau’s StarWorld Hotel and Casino for stakes of HK$10,000/20,000.

In the first heads-up encounter between Dwan and the Chinese businessman, the Full Tilt pro lost HK$20 million. The businessman agreed to play Dwan heads-up on the condition that both players would have to reveal their hole cards after every hand regardless of whether or not there was a showdown.

Rumours were floating around the internet that ‘durrrr’ was not comfortable playing at these stakes and could put his bankroll in jeopardy if he wasn’t careful.
However, the internet whiz kid proved his doubters wrong by obliterating his opponent in the second session, taking home a staggering HK$68 million profit.

The businessman, who hails from Shanghai, has been a regular at the i love pokerkaki’s high stakes games for the past two years. He has reportedly lost more than HK$100 million in total over the course of that period.

This is how it went down:

Blinds: $10,000, $20,000HKD blinds, $10,000 Ante/person

There was a straddle of $40,000 HKD, and then a re- straddle of $80,000 HKD

Chinese guy: bumps it up to $100,000HKD (with Ace, Jack)

Chau Giang: raises to $500,000HKD (with Ace, Ace)

Chinese guy: calls ....(everyone else folds) it's now heads up

Hand of the Day:

Last night all the regular high roller Chinese guys were playing..along with World Champion Chau Giang. (Durr and Phil were taking a nap and getting some rest)

How it went down:
Blinds: $10,000, $20,000HKD blinds, $10,000 Ante/person
There was a straddle of $40,000 HKD.
Chinese guy: bumps it up to $100,000HKD (with Ace, Jack)
Chau Giang: raises to $500,000HKD (with Ace, Ace)
Chinese guy: calls ....(everyone else folds) it's now heads up

Flop comes out: J, J, 10

Chau Giang: Checks (two pair, aces and jacks)
Chinese guy: bets $1.2 million (with trip Jack's, ace kicker)
Chau Giang: Calls

Turn: Ace ( WOW, Chau Giang has now made a Full house Aces over Jacks....While Chinese Guy has Full house Jacks over Aces)

Chau Giang: first to act ....Checks!
Chinese guy: pushes All IN ...around $9 Million HKD
Chau Giang: Calls

River comes a 3: Chau Giang takes down the over $20 Million HKD POT!!!!!!!

This is crazy news.. apparently durrr was playing in some huge games in Macau, then some Chinese businessman challenged him to HK$10,000/20,000 heads up. In the first session, Dwan lost HK$20m and then he won HK$68m in the re-match.

Starworld i love pokerkaki level 3, Tom Dwan and Phil Ivy spotted playing HIGH stakes poker. Apparently these big games have been going on for over a year with very wealthy businessmen, mainly those in the gaming industry.

The games started at 5k-10k HKD No Limit Texas Hold’em and has moved up to 10k-20k HKD No limit with 10k Antes and Probs. Recent heads up challenges between two wealthy Chinese men bumped up the blinds to 50k-100k HKD NL. WOW!!!!! this may be the largest high stakes game in the WORLD!!

I’ve never seen so many top pros in one poker room in Macau, and so many plaques on a table.

With over 60 million HKD on the table, ego is the least you’re worried about when losing a huge pot. I think the biggest pot I’ve seen so far is about $20 million HKD.

You guys should definitely go see if you can catch a glimpse of the action. It’s INSANE!!!!

It’s so exciting to see how the world’s top poker pro’s compare to these wealthy Chinese businessmen, who can spend millions chasing gut shots and flush draws.

Johnny Chan and Chau Giang, world champions and part of Team China in World Team Poker are also in Macau cashing in on these big games, along with John Juanda. Jeff Lisandro & Ted Forrest have also been playing 300-600hkd PLO with some of the locals, and getting in on all the exciting action.
