One important factor is considering your position.

If you hold [Td] [Th] on a [Ts] [8s] [7d] flop, and you are out of position, I would play my hand very aggressively. For example, I bet out and my opponent raises behind me. I would re-raise, because if I call, I am put in a difficult spot deciding whether or not to bet out on the turn, or whether to check the turn to my opponent, who raised, and risk them checking behind. Giving a 'free card' here is a huge loss of value. If I am in position, I don't feel like I need to play as frantically, because I don't have the 'free card' concern

I'll try to get my money on the flop. I don't think I will lay down this hands.

consider the range of hands an opponent hands and weigh your strategy accordingly i think.

If his range is wide enough to have that straighter or flusher , then give it up.

If it was multiway , give it up too

if its like heads up and his range is narrow , may call down to pot control if u can beat most of his range

its actually quite easy...if you have pocket 10 then prefold you should call pretty hard...to prevent any small connector cards from coming in. so when it open 10 8 7 you should be pretty sure there is no straight on fold. but if the person call with connectors suited and get the straight then its just you are unlucky. but if you call hard enough on prefold i sure even small connectors suited will not come in. but its hard to say...depends on the person who playing. if there is a flush draw then be more cautious becuase its hard to guard. you might want to maintain your call from previous rather than slove all in...just my 2c
