This really happened

Postby g_oxidizer » Thu Jul 21, 2011 2:24 pm

9-table, SB (250BB), Villain(125BB), Hero (200 BB)
SB tourist on winning steak,
Villain is a typical reg who plays tight
Limp, fold, limp to Hero(BTN) with [Ac] [Kc] who raises to 5bb
2 callers SB and Villain(UTG+3)

Flop: [3c] [6c] [7d]

Everyone checks

Turn [Ts]

Checked again

River [5c]

SB checks, Villain bets 4bb, Hero raises to 20 bb,SB folds
Villain thinks and raises to 40 bb, Hero is really worried he has a straight flush now, ponders about it and shoves, Villain insta-calls All-In, Hero knows he is f**ked.

Villain claims pot with [4c] [7c]

My question to you folks: would you have played the same? And what can be done to avoid the 1-outer tragedy?

I do agree a better way to play this hand is to bet flop 1/2 to 3/4 pot with a Nuts flush draw for better value.

But as for this hand, how you played would not alter the result.

After the flop, whether free or no free cards.
Villian has top pair + St draw + Flush draw + ST8 flush draw, Do you think he gonna threw it away? Answer is a definitely "NO".
This type of hand is call 冤家牌。bo bian 1.

cbet Flop so that you have two ways to win , everyone folds there you win , someone calls then A , K or club comes , you have a chance to win as well

Thanks for your comments folks.

Villain practically never folds when enters pot. I knew betting would not push him off.

Afternoon
Yes villain probably put me on a high pair, AK etc. As you said, he would have stayed.

What I am most interested to know is play at the river.
I put the villain on a set, overpair, straight, smaller flush or complete air.
How could I imagine he hit his 1-outter?
Kinda like full house vs quads.
How could I lay down the 'top' nuts?

if villian never folds and is passive , then when he leads ( very strong ) and 3bets River , you don't ship River lor , just flat if u can't fold

IMO if he reraised your river bet u could have flat called... no need to shove what, esp since u worried about Str Flush...
