[livepoker] - how would you play this hand on button

Postby Vinally » Fri Sep 23, 2011 3:39 pm

Actually this post is more for chenghao and curious what he had to say.

Poker .5/.5, I have AKs on button, against 2 callers.

utg (80dollar) raise to 4.5
button (me, 120dollar ) 3bet to 15. AKs
Sb (400 dollar) called.
utg called.

Pot 45, Flop J62
sb/utg checked to me. i bet 35.
sb called. utg fold.

Pot 115, Turn T
sb checked.
me shove remaining for 70.
he called. 9J...

Total pot 225. he offer to give me back 40 dollar. i declined. run one time. no hit for 12 outers. A,K,Q

Is that bad play, should i check to see river ?

History of me, i myself often 3bet alot on position and steal alot than most of them. villian sb, like to call alot and float whatever on board for past 2hrs.

What is your strategy on turn and river?

ur pre-flop play is ok. but ur flop play is questionable??? u have posn into 2 villians..by betting 35 into a 45 pot, only a hand that connects will call u.. wat hands do u wan to fold... both villians call ur 3bet pflop.. easily someone can flop a J.. u hav the button, u can just check n see the turn.. moreover, betting into 2 person on a bluff?.. one more point, by betting 35 into 45 pot u r pot committing .. too big an amt, half or even lesser will do the trick if no one has anythg..all in all fm villian stack of 400.. i believe he has stack u prior hands and when u play this hand, u r on silent tilt... no need to discuss turn or river liao...

er why me ?

was the Flop rainbow ?

If i know that he is a fish , i would just check back the Flop if he doesn't fold to cbet

what sort of fish is he ?

apparently he isn't the type that would check call preflop to fit and fold on the flop

so if he is the check/call any preflop and call you down with underpair , then check back the Flop for a free Turn to fold to any lead if you miss the turn.
prepare to check call if you hit your A or K lor.

http://archives1.twoplustwo.com/showfla ... &vc=1&nt=3

all found here

Your Preflop 3bet size seems ok it cost the $4.5 guy another 10.5 to come in.

finish all the articles if u can , one at a time

the fact that he called you each time will be enough to tell you that he probably flopped a pair. even if he flopped top pair and he didn't raise you was because he had a fairly low kicker. and this is further proved by the fact that he didn't raise preflop. your raise on the flop didn't scare him....alarm bells should be ringing but then again...its a 'small' raise. wanna raise, raise big in this kind of hand, or check. i would've checked to the river...with the player you were playing against, i reckon he would've checked with you all the way. oh well better luck next time! :D

i dunno, just my 2 cents worth.

I was showing my strength by preflop raise on the button, in fact, i raise to 15 dollar, it is showing too strong hands. it is likely to be QQ+ in my image range. Never expect him to call down with Jx on top pair board as he is not thinking of AA, KK, QQ or AJ.

Maybe call with AK on preflop instead of raising, will be good. or raise on button and bet half and call/check/fold on river, either one will be better. :)

Don't ever bluff a fish. zzzz

I just wanna mention 2 pts.
1stly, u didnt have 12 outs!
2ndly, must consider reversed implied odds on this board.
Hiting queen give u the nuts but hiting your Ace or King may well give villian 2 pairs.
Wait for a better spot if u think u are the better player.

I don't mean 12 outs, it is after seeing his hand, 9J so i have 12 "numbers" of cards to win him on river, i mean that he offer to give u 40 dollar back, you will also decline this offer and pray for one of 12 numbers to come . :D

I was practicing my aggressive level against players. think it don't scare some people off.

I am still learning to improve myself. :)

Edited updated : it is actually 10 numbers, Sorrie. lolx
