Hi,

Faced the same problem (pokerstars support couldn't help much)...

Do this :

1) Goto C:\Program Files\PokerStars
2) Run "PokerStars.exe"

The shortcut (on the desktop) runs the update program before the actual pokerstars.exe, apparently that update thing is the problem, not the actual software.

It's a software bug guys.
This error happens to all singnet users.
Go to the Pokerstars icon and right click and properties it.
Remove "Update" from the exe file and it will run smoothly.

Sigh, people. You don't read my posts. :(

DM and Support, your method works but is outdated. Your software will not be updated.

The proper fix is this.

1. Go to C:\Program Files\PokerStars
2. Edit the file user.ini
3. Add the following section

[Connect]
httpproxy=proxy2.singnet.com.sg:8080
httpsproxy=proxy2.singnet.com.sg:8080

Done. No need to change "Update" or whatever.

Afternoon, btw

if you want to get Pokerstars running under Mac OS X with the Singnet connections, do the same thing.

Open up terminal.

Add the [Connect] stuff to the file ~/Library/Preferences/com.pokerstars.user.ini

....

Comment out the [Connect] section when not on the Singnet Broadband

eg

Change
[connect]
httpproxy=proxy.singnet.com.sg:8080
httpsproxy=proxy.singnet.com.sg:8080

to
[connect]
Xhttpproxy=proxy.singnet.com.sg:8080
Xhttpsproxy=proxy.singnet.com.sg:8080

Hi Conceive, (colin, these instructions are for you too)

here are the dummy steps. lol. I hope you know bash shell (Terminal) and vim (Editor).

1. Download the Mac client from Pokerstars. Install as per standard Max OS X "Drag/Drop to Install"

2. Run Pokerstars once. This will give you the error. The point of this step is to generate the user config file.

3. Run Terminal (#Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal)

4. Go to your preferences directory. .... cd ~/Library/Preferences

5. Do a file list. ... ls -asl com.pokerstars.*
You should see the file "com.pokerstars.user.ini"

6. Fire up your favorite editor and edit this file (use TextMate, whatever) I use vim.

7. Add the following section into the file

[Connect]
httpproxy=proxy2.singnet.com.sg:8080
httpsproxy=proxy2.singnet.com.sg:8080

8. Save the file and start Pokerstars. voila

9. Comment out the section [Connect] when you connect to other non-singnet networks. eg. Starhub Wireless@SG. when the provider is iCell or something instead of Singnet

Hi All,

the most recent update of Pokerstars does NOT require the [Connect] section anymore to work for Singnet Broadband. You may remove the section.

hmmm for fun, here's a screenshot of my Pokerstars running in Ubuntu Linux. lol
