Change in VPP system in 2012

Postby keldraco » Fri Dec 30, 2011 10:47 am

anyone know this?

Starting in January, PokerStars will be awarding VPP's based on a player's contribution to the rake. Earning our VPP's for the 20+ or 150+ levels will require entering more pots, playing more games, and in general being much more aggressive. All the strategies we've been sharing about how to quickly earn the VPP's with a tiny bankroll are now out the window.

Does anyone have a strategy to deal with this new, contributed rake, system? Any help would be appreciated.

Gratz on your standings on pso league

This news is terrible for cash game grinders.Players wont be able to accumulate vpps like they do before if they are playing TAG style starting this january.

Will expect % of vpps/fpps grinders to switch from cash to sngs/mtts because of its fixed rake.It will mean that game volumes instead if hours spend on cash game tables or regular sng/mtt will be the main priority of vpps/fpps accumulation.

I read the new system annoucement, last line is quite lame...
Who would switch to play fewer hands to earn fewer (same) points as before.
This definitely gg to change the way how people grind now.
Difficult times ahead for some of u.

"This change will affect players differently based on their playing style.  Some players will have to play more hands to earn the same number of points while others will have to play fewer hands."

I think this is something they're doing to be proactive for the return of the US market.
The law in congress is going to have to have the players pay taxes on their winnings and the gaming companies pay taxes on the rake. By seperating this out, they will be able to calculate very easily exactly how much rake they got from each US player. That way, they will know how much PS will have to pay in taxes.... as they'll only have to pay the US gov't for what the US players' rake is.

The regulars will suffer, recreational players will benefit.

Not exactly. Bcos of the multiplier effect, the regs will suffer alot more than the gains by the recreational players, ie pokerstars grab back the excess.

There is a war of words happening on 2+2 vs
Pokerstars, planning a mass sitout to strike.
