i think it wont be a bullshit story... so excited..!!

In breaking news, Poker Portal Asia has just learned that Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) will be opening a poker room within its premises on March 5, 2012. The poker room will be the first legitimate one of its kind to hit Singapore, which has already produced a number of top players seen at tournaments around Asia.
The news initially came to our attention via a Facebook group thread on Team SGPoker after one of its members, Onn Daniel, leaked the story last night. Daniel says he works as a pit supervisor at RWS and posted:
“Inside info...RWS 5th of March will be opening poker room...which is Texas Holdem poker...feel free to visit me there – I most likely will be anchoring as Pit Sup for Texas Holdem poker for most of my shift.”
Poker Portal Asia then reached out to a Resorts World source who has since confirmed for us that the news is indeed true.
Daniel was also able to provide a few extra details on the poker room. According to him, cash table stakes would start at SGD $2.50/$5 blinds and rake would be 5 per cent to a maximum of SGD $50. In line with Singapore casino regulations, Daniel also confirmed that locals would still have to pay the SGD $100 levy to enter the casino before they could sit down and play.
While this is great news for players in Singapore it could also mean big things for others around Asia. It’s likely that tournament organisers in the region such as the Asian Poker Tour (APT) and Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) will be clamoring to get their foot in the door with a Singapore stop added to their tours.
We’ll keep you updated with more details and any official announcements from RWS as they come to hand.

The $100 levy is just 20BB which is quite substantial but considering that it is home ground and you do not incur hotel & transportation (air fares) if you would be playing in Macau for example. I do understand that a Singaporean can also opt to pay S$2k for an annual entry pass - is that true?

The other major problem could be the birth of poker team/collusion syndicates and in this respect I do not know how experienced the supervisors & managers are in such detection. To offset such attempts the poker rooms in Vegas regularly rotate players and keep a database of when several players sit together in the same table. They can do this when they have 50-60 tables running but having 7 tables running, you are probably going to see 50% familiar faces each time you sit down.

A lot also rests with the RWS management on how they intend to promote the game.

100 levy works out to be abt the same as crown's hourly time charge of 5 bucks.. hourly charges might increase flow. Hope they consider that instead of the flat levy....doubt we ll get anything less since gah men quite on de.
