Haven't been running good. Got into a lot of nasty spots today. I also have not too much motivation to play past few days, feeling really tired after work and I just feel like rotting at my computer. The good thing is that this BS is over in 2 weeks time!! bad thing is that my final year of sch is abt to begin.

I'm going for a short trip to macau to meet one of my friends. I'll play 25/50 HKD again and try to make some money (and learn from my mistakes last year). Then I'll go to Hong Kong and Shen Zhen with some friends for 1 week. Hope it'll be fun.

Day 17

Profit: -$160
Time: 4h
Hands: 5130
Game: 4 tables NL50 2 tables NL25 SH Zoom

1) Villain is 70/50. I'm still not sure if I have value on the River. He can have so many flush combos but at the same time I could easily forsee him calling with 77/88/99 and a lot of random 6X/QX/TX which could have gotten there.

Pre Flop: ($0.75) Hero is BTN with 6Image 6Image

Flop: ($11.00) 4Image 2Image 6Image (3 players)
SB bets $3.00, MP calls $3, Hero raises to $8, SB calls $5, MP folds

2) Villain is tight. 18/15/6. I think getting it in right away is definitely going to be a mistake. I have quite a few options postflop but I decided that the majority of standard opponents (esp at NL50) are not smart enough to check overpairs on such boards which crush my range (I have 88-JJ so often). I was hoping that I either get value from badly played AK or maybe JJ which might just check/shove to make playability easier. Turn is nasty but I didn't feel like turning QQ into a bluff. He could easily herocall me anyway with overpairs, putting me on AQ or AK.

River just confused the shit out of me. Why would an overpair shove like that? I could very easily check back the turn with a set on a 4 straight board (though I wouldn't). Was hoping he was doing something stupid with AK/JJ but I wasn't too pleased with it.

3) Villain is 29/24 over 20 hands. I might have considered folding against a more passive opponent. But anyway I have the 2nd nuts and they could easily have 78 for the low straight. Still a very sickening spot anyway. I was just hoping that KQ would raise Pre (why did a 29/24 player limp behind with KQ anyway? such a stupid play). there goes my 200bb

4) This was actually from yesterday. I remember thinking to myself (what a stupid play, checking to raise doesn't make sense at all, he should just bet so that it's straightforward)

5) Then this hand happened just now. I was like "why the hell did i take such a line when I thought it was a terrible play yesterday?"

There's a difference though - KK could easily have bet for value against AQ/KQ in the previous hand, whereas in this hand I don't think I'm really betting for value against too many worse hands. I was trying to induce from broadway straight draws, flush draws, and maybe weaken my perceived range then go for 2 streets against AJ.

When I saw the min3bet somehow I knew I was screwed. Maybe I should have folded. People don't play their draws in this manner so he should have AQ at the very least (but probably a set).

6) I'm definitely folding KQ w/o dynamic. 88 is sick and maybe a fold as well? But I'll probably call, putting villain on KQ/KT some of the time. TT is close I probably won't fold it. I'm not too sure how often people actually overplay 2pair on 3straight boards though.

7) Another funny hand vs a russian. fist-pump snap call on Turn even though I don't have any history on him cos his VPIP/PFR over 10 hands was just very aggro.

8) I got really really annoyed at this hand. I am never folding A7 of course, cos the other guy can have A4s some small % of the time. I pretty much put him on 77 and maybe A7s some of the time. I think during the hand his stats look like a normal reg's stats but I now suspect he's a fish (31/19/17 over 30 hands). Should have checked how many tables he was playing. I would never fold to a fish. Anyone who is decent should be folding AQ and worse hands.

Postby gosubay » Fri Jul 20, 2012 1:08 pm

I've been in Macau for the past 4+ days. Ran quite bad but wrote a few posts about my trip as well as Poker. I'm too lazy to repost since I actually have a few blogs elsewhere at 2p2 and pokerstraetgy so I'll just upload the URL here

Let me know what you like/hate about my posts. I hope to post more interesting content for the readers. thanks

nope I don't know how he looks like.
I might have seen him if he was playing at the 300/600 Wynn games though. I think I recall seeing some Singaporeans around talking to some Fat Chinese guy in english (some guy wearing a Manchester United shirt or jacket)

Short Post about Macau Day 5

http://beeejoe.wordpress.com/2012/07/21/macau-day-5/

Going to HK today. Feeling quite excited since my official vacation is finally starting. Macau is kind of boring after a while...

----------------

By the way, my friend jio me to open Tao Huey stall under his franchise. You may have come across it at Bugis Village (Quik snacks). If any of you know of any good lobang (decent location with decent traffic and a good rental price), please let me know. I hope to be able to ride on the wave for maybe a year and make some money while gaining a little bit of business experience before the fad dies out. thanks!

Short Poker Session

Postby gosubay » Sat Jul 21, 2012 12:26 pm

Made around 70 and ran like shit (350+ below EV). Should play more deep and regular tables cos I feel my edge is much bigger when I gain sample size on all the regs much quicker as compared to Zoom where I have to play the limit for a few days. I might stick with this plan at least until i hit 100 or 200 because the player pool would be significantly smaller by then.

Trapped indoors by the typhoon in HK. I hope it ends soon... Since I had nothing better to do I ended up grinding for 5 hours.

I just returned to Hong Kong from Shen Zhen. I will be flying back to Singapore tomorrow so you can expect more poker updates from me in the coming days when I start playing long sessions.

Poker
Basically I played multiple headsup sessions on my Iphone at NL100 and NL50 in the hotel in ShenZhen. Ended up winning 500-600. I think my edge is significantly larger than the opposition but I'm quite surprised at the number of players who were willing to give me action. In the past I often had to challenge at least 3-4 guys before I could find a non bum-hunting reg who was willing to play.
